Have you been putting off going to couples/marriage counseling because you do not think you can swing coming in every week for an hour? Who will babysit? How can you take off work every week and fight traffic?

Has a specific issue been plaguing the relationship or has a current crisis occurred? Marathon therapy may be just what you are looking for.

I am now offering marathon therapy in my practice but on a very limited schedule.

What is Marathon Therapy?
Marathon Couples' Therapy is a specific type of therapy that is short-term and intensive. Its purpose is to help resolve your current crisis or a specific issue in the relationship. It is not meant as an on-going, long-term couples' therapy. Because time is limited, it does not include a full relationship assessment nor a teaching of every skill included in the Gottman Method. Rather, an assessment is done of the current crisis, and together with information gleaned from the questionnaires filled out prior to our first meeting, goals are set to fit the time available. The Gottman Methods pertinent to achieving these goals are then incorporated into the treatment.Marathon therapy consist of 15 hours of therapy in 3 to 4 days. From my experience with couples one of the biggest reasons people do not come in for therapy is their concern of being able to make weekly appointments.

To learn about how to schedule Marathon sessions, please contact me so we can find a week that works with all of our schedules.

Marathon Therapy is not appropriate when:

There is active alcohol and/or drug addiction on the part of either or both partners, from either partner's perspective

There is serious violence in your relationship, threats by one or both partners that serious violence might occur, or fear of such serious violence on the part of one or both partners

Either partner currently has an untreated major mental illness (schizophrenia, recurrent psychotic depression, or bipolar/manic-depressive illness.) This does not include past, successfully treated psychotic episodes (e.g. post-partum depression with psychosis).

There is an undisclosed, current affair that you are not willing to disclose (such secrets predict marital therapy failure)

Either partner is currently experiencing suicidal or homicidal thoughts, or has a history of serious harm inflicted on him/herself or another person

Cost is $2500

A non-refundable deposit of $1250 is due to reserve spot.  The balance is due on the first day of scheduled week.

If this is something that you feel would work well with the time constraints of life then reach out.
